Setting Up A Home for Your Pet Snake

You’ve decided to buy a snake, now it’s time for you to make sure that he has a great home. Setting up a home for snakes is very detailed and it takes a lot of research and consideration to make their home as perfect as it could be. Where we have a basic guide as to what you should consider doing when setting up a home for your pet snakes.

The Size

It is recommended that you consider the size of your snake, if you’re planning to keep a corn snake or a python when they are babies, then you might as well just buy the big aquarium right from the beginning considering the fact that these snakes grow quickly. A 20-30 gallon aquarium is the average size for keeping these kinds of snakes.

The Temperature

Now that you’ve got your aquarium ready, it’s time for you to consider heating the aquarium, not the whole aquarium though; half of it is perfect because your pet would need some cold area to cool off as well. Snakes are cold-blooded animals so their temperature is just like the outside which is why it’s really important for you to check the temperature that they are suppose to be in. Thermometer could be place in the aquarium to avoid all the hassle; it’s easy and effective to check the temperature.

Decorate It

Once the temperature and aquarium is set up, it’s time for you to buy the reptile carpet to put inside; you can’t just let your snake glide on those glasses without any base! If you don’t have a budget problem, you might as well throw in some of those awesome barks that can be easily bought from the pet stores; these are a great hang out place for your snake. Create some kind of hiding place for you snake, whenever it needs to escape from the people watch, this can make your snake happy and it won’t refuse to eat. End your decoration with a bowl of water for you lovely pet to soak, have a bath, or drink when it’s thirsty.

It is also recommended that you read a lot before you set up a home for you snake, ask for advice from your local pet stores and please don’t bring the snake home if you don’t have a habitat for it already!
